On April 1960 the Famagusta Nautical Club more popularly known as NOA was born. NOA was destined to play one of the most significant and pioneering roles in the promotion and development of sea sports in Cyprus.

At first NOA was housed in a most picturesque two-storey house owned by the church of Ayia Triada and which was ideally situated near Glossa. It was very appropriately renovated and beautiful decorated acquiring a nautical and fishing-like atmosphere. It soon became the meeting place for most of the club members and their guests.

Soon after its establishment NOA developed remarkable activity among Cyprus Clubs, taking the lead in swimming, water-polo, sailing rowing and speed-boat racing.
